D. Sh., Director
D. Sh. is the Director of AAGW. She received a BA in English from Tirana University and has worked as a high school English teacher in Albania as well as a health educator, community developer, and social worker for Caritas Switzerland, Caritas Germany, Kinderhaus, and the International Organization of Migration (IOM). D.Sh. has been working with victims of human trafficking for over four years. For reasons of security, her name may not be publicized on this website.
A.T., President
A.T. is the third elected president of AAGW and is from Kukesi, Albania. Her election this year is another important step for AAGW in empowering the young women who have been victims of human trafficking. A. is 19 years old and came to the shelter when she was 16. For reasons of security, her identity must be kept private in her country.
Amy Sebes, Founder
Amy Sebes is the Founder of AAGW. She lived in Tirana, Albania for two years and began working with trafficking victims after drafting the national anti-trafficking curriculum which is currently being implemented in Albanian middle and high schools. Amy has degrees from Stanford and Tufts Universities, has worked on three continents with students of all age groups from pre-kindergarten to college, and is the recipient of several educational and humanitarian awards including the Tufts University Outstanding Teacher Special Recognition Award, the Johns Hopkins University Teacher Recognition Award, and the AAFSW Secretary of State's Award for Outstanding Volunteerism Abroad.
Shaina Niedermeier, Intern
Shaina Niedermeier is working as AAGW 's first intern. She attends Arizona State University as a Global Studies major with a focus on Eastern Europe. Shaina currently is studying at the University of Tirana on a National Security Education Program scholarship.
Linda Reid & Alison McGann Wagner, US Support Staff
Alison McGann Wagner and Amy Sebes met while at Stanford University. After earning her MA, Alison spent 10+ years as a researcher at NASA investigating aviation safety and automation issues. She is now home raising her two children and volunteers her time for AAGW.
Linda Reid lived down the hall from Amy and Alison at Stanford. She majored in biology and communication, and went on to earn an MBA from USC. She currently works as a freelance editor and graphic designer in Los Angeles while raising her two boys.
