Anti-Trafficking Educational Curriculum

The following was written by Amy L. Sebes in conjuntion with IOM beneficiaries and is an example of the type of curriculum prepared by the IOM for the Albanian Institute for Pedagogical Studies and currently being used in targeted middle and high schools in Albania.

Andrew P. Guth, a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer, adapted Amy's curriculum for use in the Philippines. He collected True Stories and made other changes appropriate for the local culture. Andrew has been successful in educating Filipino women and girls using his adapted curriculum, and we encourage others to make similar use of this curriculum.

These lessons are based on the following educational principles:

1. Discussion is better than lecture.
2. Real stories are better than impersonal facts and statistics.
3. Students learn more in small groups.
